Although I always get a little bit nervous before I shoot a Wedding, which I figure is healthy, I was extra nervous before this one as the Bride Emma is my cousin – and also a photographer! Most of my family were therefore in attendance, including my Brother, Mother and Father, so it was an eye opener for them to see me working. I think they’re now all much more aware that being ‘self employed’ doesn’t just mean I get to go surfing whenever I want!
I’d never actually met Paddy before as he and Emma live over in Dublin. He seems to have made Emma a very happy Lady and it was great fun meeting his family who also travelled over from the Emerald Isle to help them celebrate.
The Wedding took place in the Lake District where my parents are from and where Emma and her sister Janet grew up. We spent a lot of holidays here when I was a kid and it was a great opportunity for me to revisit what must be one of the most beautiful places in the UK. The reception was hosted by my Uncle and Aunt at Merewood Country House Hotel which has stunning view of Lake Windemere which, true to form, were obscured by rain for much of the day!
It was a real pleasure to be able to document Paddy and Emma’s Big Day for them and I wish them all the happiness in the world.
Below are some of my favorites.
For anyone who’s interested my Mum’s the one with the ‘very’ colourful umbrella, my Dad’s the one in the wheelchair sleeping during the speeches and my brother is the tall one throwing some shapes on the dance floor. (Oh and that’s me dancing with the Bride one from the end! – thanks to Janet for taking this one)
