Charlotte’s Mum lives three doors down from my parents, her Mum is one of my Mum’s closest friend and her eldest brother Adam is one of my best and oldest friends. Our families have been intertwined for many years so much so that we often spend Christmas together. This essentially makes Charlotte the little sister I never had and so photographing her wedding to Jake was beyond an honour, and in truth a little bit emotional!
In Jake Charlotte has found her soul mate, he’s calm, gentle and kind, the perfect foil for her electric and energetic personality. They make a beautiful pair and between them have two stunning daughters in Annie and Robin. I was so excited for them when they became parents for the first (and second time) and having the opportunity to photograph them with the girls was a real insight into what a wonderful job they are doing.
The wedding was a stellar day with a perfect balance of activities for the kids and grown ups a-like. The ceremony was held at the Guildhall in Windsor right next door to Windsor Castle and had all the grandeur you’d expect it to. From there we were all transported to the beautiful Olde Bell Inn in Hurley on a Red Route-master bus with champagne for all. Jake’s brothers were his best men and their speech was truly one of the funniest I’ve heard for a long time as they ribbed him about his Arnold Schwarzenegger obsession, poked fun at his school report card and revealed that he was very nearly called Natalie! In the evening after the kids had been shipped off to bed it was time for the grown ups to play and a truly epic party ended with Charlotte and Jake’s last dance surrounded and cheered on by all of their guests – those that were still standing that is!
Charlotte and Jake – you two are legends! Thanks so much for letting me be your photographer. Love you guys!
