I’m a long way behind with my blog again and have so many wonderful weddings to share with you, just as soon as I can get over this writer’s block that I’ve been suffering with. Ironic really that my photography should be so focused on storytelling but when it actually comes to putting some words to that story I run into a brick wall almost every time.

I often say how very honoured I am to be asked to tell my couples wedding stories for them. As a storyteller I’m addicted to capturing those moments which show genuine love between people and there was no shortage of these at Catherine and Simon’s wedding.

Catherine and Simon’s story began when they met working at a Hospital in Hobart in Tasmania. Catherine’s Australian and Simon had travelled over there from the UK to work. Fast forward several years and they’d relocated to their lives to London and after several happy holidays in Cornwall decided that this was where they would cement their relationship and begin the next chapter of their story together.

The Rosevine in Porthscatho was the chosen venue for their intimate wedding, where Catherine and Simon said their vows in front of a select few of their closest friends and family. Several of Catherine’s family had made the trip over from Australia and were very gracious about the fact that Australia had knocked England out of the Rugby World Rugby the day beforehand!

It turned out that Simon and his Best Man both studied at Exeter Art College which became part of Plymouth Uni and was where I studied for my photography degree, albeit a few years after they were there. Despite taking a different route into medicine Simon still has a real passion for photography and so it meant a great deal to me that they felt that my photography would do their wedding story justice.

Though the wedding day is just a brief chapter within a relationship it can be a defining one and to know the way in which I represent their relationships, not just with each other but also with their family and friends will be preserved in print in their wedding album and cherished by them forever is 100% why I’m a wedding photographer.

Thank you Catherine and Simon for being such wonderful fun and for putting your faith in me to tell your wedding story for you.
