I felt like I new Elliot and Nicole a little bit before I met them for the first time at our consultation in February as Elliot is the brother of one of my best friend’s girlfriend Rhi. I was really excited to hear about their plans for their Blessing under a tree at Neandon Farm on the edge of Dartmoor but a little nervous for them at their lack of a wet weather plan! The weather held off in the end though it was an anxious morning as the clouds swept over this beautiful part of Devon looking menacing. In the end their ceremony passed without a hitch and was one of the most beautiful/interesting ones that I have ever photographed.
The evening reception however was a real challenge as though no detail had been ignored in regards to the stunningly decorated barn there was barely any natural light at all and for the first time ever I had to shoot the speeches using flash. Anyway I like a good challenge and it was good practice for a Wedding I’m booked to shoot next year in a Cinema which I have been warned has no windows whatsoever! Though there were many highlights from the day their first dance to one of the songs from the Jungle Book was a real riot.
